Is there a limit to how long of a video this will take? I want to use it to monitor equipment and capture video of failures.

Since your burning data at 2 megs per minute it would depend on Device storage limits. I'm not sure what max file creation size is, nothing on documentation. This creates files that are easy to delete at least. Video quality not HD and has a fixed focal length of 0-9". My experience was with sewer and drain piping with max 15`+/- captures.

Can i use this for diy colonoscopies? i’d limit them to family and close friends, maybe selected neighbors but that’s it

Ummmm DIY.. COLON...WHAT??? i think you should leave that to the professionals and no I would not advise using this camera for that

What kind of software should I use , and where can I get it fast

Depends I used windows camera. It worked well. But there is other camera software you can download for free.
