Hello, All Mattel Barbie dolls are essentially waterproof. Water should not damage the body, paint, or clothing. However, be sure to dry the doll afterwards and give her hair a comb to prevent matting. Best regards, C&B Sales

Can they go in the pool?

While not specifically designed as a pool toy, my daughters have used their Barbie mermaids in the pool and bathtub frequently. Occasionally we’ll notice moisture inside the front of the tail, but a day or two in a dry area takes care of that. The colors have not faded on this particular Barbie yet; one of their first designs with very pastel colors faded quickly in chlorine and sun. Basically, if you are comfortable with regular Barbie’s in the pool, there is nothing different about these. If you worry about the inside of the head or body not drying out or mold growing, then I would avoid the pool.
