Whats the difference between this version and the 499$ one?

So far, there is no difference except in the price. It's perfectly functional and everything that I expected (I've had great luck with Certified Refurbished electronics). The remote control design is frustrating to work with but that is a minor complaint.

Do you need the 3d glasses to see it in 3d & they have to be 3d blue ray?

I thought the ubd-k8500 and the ubd-km85c are two different models? how are they different?

although i can't be 100% on this, i did a lot of research on the ubd-k8500 and had decided to buy it but then i found the ubd-km85c refurbished at a great price. i then looked into it before buying it and from what i can tell, they are basically identical. i couldn't find any difference and the users manual they emailed me was for the 8500 and it matches the design and all the features for the km85c.
