Recursion is a mind-bending thriller from Blake Crouch, author of Dark Matter , exploring memory, identity, and the consequences of a discovery that could change reality itself. "Action-packed, brilliantly unique" – Andy Weir, author of The Martian When a mysterious phenomenon begins affecting people around the world, victims are overwhelmed by vivid memories of lives they never lived. What initially appears to be a disease soon reveals itself to be something far more extraordinary and dangerous. As Detective Barry Sutton investigates the growing crisis in New York City, neuroscientist Helena Smith unknowingly holds the key to understanding the mystery and the means to stop it. Together, they must confront forces that threaten not only individual lives but the very fabric of reality itself. Combining high-concept science fiction with suspense, emotion, and unforgettable twists, Recursion is a gripping exploration of memory, time, loss, and human connection. "Recursion takes mind-twisting premises and embeds them in a deeply emotional story about time and loss and grief and most of all, the glory of the human heart" – Gregg Hurwitz, author of Orphan X Reader Praise: "An unbelievably good read" "Mind-blowing, brilliant, enthralling and gripping from beginning to end" "The stakes are colossal, the characters are the perfect propelling forces of the story, and the big reveals are placed at exactly the right moments" "I couldn't put it down, I had to know what happened next" "Crouch, an already phenomenal author, just keeps getting better" Review: Fantastic plot and story and lovely emotional depth between characters - Omg this is MUST buy. I can't even describe how good it is and how can one even write such a masterpiece. Like the story and plot is soooooo amazing and omg the emotional depth between helena and barry 😩 oh god I'm in love with it. Just buy it, it's totally worth every penny and second spent reading it. I just love this!! Review: Confusing but though worth reading. - If the reader is able to keep aside the logic, and get along with that of the flow of thoughts and imagination of the writer then the book " Recursion" by BlakeCrouch will be an interesting read.Initially, it is about the Detective, Barry Sutton, his wife Julia and their darling daughter Meghan, until Meghan dies in an accident and the couple ending in divorce. The unfolding of "nolove" between them for long, than that of the brief period they were together comesout almost during the end.But neverthless this stirs an initial intrest in the reader, which then followed by Barry and Helena Smith's(a neuroscientist)ideal relationships, their fight for a cause and to save the world from destruction from the "Memory Chair", an invention of Helena, which she aspired to make as a relief for patients suffering from Alzememeir disease and more so for her mother who was going through Alzemeirs. As a daughter it was Helena's wish to bring back the Happiness in the the eyes of her mother and as a neuroscientist she was working hard for a breakthrough. Now,the story takes its turn as a Sci-fi with the entry of Marcus Slade,an assistant to Helena from her past timeline in an earlier life.Slade in a different "Timeline ", lures Helena with better package and sents a word through his assistant jee-woon to join him in his self motivated research and together with the other staff they make a "Memory Chair" through which a person can be sent to an earlier or even later "Timeline " memory of their life.Marcus Slade, with the help of the "Chair" along with the " Deprivation Tank" ,an invention of himself was able to send people into their past & future memories of their respective,Timelines. The intresting part of going through the chair and deprivation tank is that by going through the past memory and timeline the occupant of the "Chair", can undo the things of regret and sufferings in his life of past memory by visiting the particular,"Timeline" in the present and correct the mistakes that comes as an after thoughts and relive the life happily. On an occasion,Barry was forcibly picked up by Slade and his men to experiment and test the "Chair & the Deprivation Tank"and was put through the 'Chair'.He revisits the timeline of the memory of Meghan's death that occurred some 11 years back in his life. Now with the "Chair" Barry was able to visit that memory of regret ,just moments before the accident and was able to save his daughter from death. He relives with the thought of Megan being alive & feels happy to be with her and his wife Julia until Meagan, again dies in a fire accident which makes him mad at Slade and his men for sending him back to false memory & reminding the most troublesome past of his life.He wants to take revenge for making him suffer & making fresh the memories of his lost and loved daughter which was a part of his earlier timeline. The mention of FMS(False Memory Syndrome) and its mysterious spread, frequent visits to the past & present 'Timelines',going through deaths and reliving etc not once but multiple times confuses the readers and also at one point makes the reader question the 'Makebelief' version of the story going through the loop again and again. though, of course, not without counting the merits of research put behind and presenting a book as close to entertainment as the reader could enjoy .Above all, it's a good book to read but pales a bit in comparison to " Dark Matter."

Mind-Bending, Emotional, and Absolutely Unforgettable!
Recursion is an absolute masterpiece! Blake Crouch delivers a story that’s gripping from the first page, emotionally intense in the middle, and absolutely insane by the end. The concept of timelines and memories feels so fresh yet gives you those Dark series vibes—in the best way possible. I loved how the book mixed high-stakes suspense with deep emotional moments, especially in the final parts—it actually hit hard. The twists and pacing kept me hooked, and even when things got a bit complex, it was worth focusing because the payoff is phenomenal. The ending left me with goosebumps and just the right amount of lingering suspense. Also, the physical copy I received was in excellent condition—pages crisp, cover pristine, and the included high-resolution poster was a fantastic bonus for fans who love collecting. If you enjoy mind-bending sci-fi thrillers like Dark or Inception, this is a must-read.

The book is great, the page quality is not
1. The paper is recycled, I get that. But at least try to improve the shade of the paper to a few lighter shades. The page is dark, It feels like rough notebooks we have in the indian household. Its a shame that there are no other printing house present for this book in India. Otherwise I would have bought that. 2. I am able to see the black ink of the opposite page. It does not give the impression of quality. Attached screenshot: The top book is Recursion, the bottom one is The Dark Forest from Head of Zeus publication. You can clearly see the difference. Pan Macmillan publication has done a shabby job. The experience of reading matters.

Interesting plot
Needs little patience in the beginning 50-60 pages but after that when the book picks up I was not able to put the book down. Towards the end, I would say like after 75-80% it gets little repetitive but the ending was good. In all very interesting plot with a romance subplot.

Vanilla Sky does Inception
Blake Crouch is back, with another thought provoking mind bending novel that takes time, to travel through time and realise the full butterfly effect, or is that Mandela effect of what it means to remember. The story is well paced but longer than expected and broken into 5 "books". This services a timeline of events and makes it easier to read in order. That said what starts out as two distinct stories destined to converge - The send half of Recursion is more sci fi futuristic and all together linear changing up the reflections and mystery for straight up action. The last arc of the narrative is suitably repetitive while also stretching the credibility of its own ideas. There are points towards the end where it.just.doesnt.end. And then very easily it does and yet the final ending feels unfulfilled, it felt like so many threads had been retconned and left unresolved. If there is one issue with Blake's story is that he seems intent on telling a story of two destined lovers, and yet then totally ignores that poor wife and daughter of one of the main characters. The daughter especially is ignored in the backhalf dead twice and relegated to never being born, the wife an afterthought. I was expecting some resolution here but alas, at least the 2 main characters found each other again . Not the Notebook, or the Butterfly Effect or Looper this book does what Blake Crouch does best. Well worth reading!

Pra quem gosta do assunto "tempo" e as diferentes formas de ver o passado, presente e futuro, vale a pena ler. Final me surpreendeu, não foi o que eu estava imaginando pelo desenrolar da história.
