Here at Future Build Supplies we have on offer 5 x AquaCrates which is used for a soakaway including clips to join the crates and a 1 x 2.25m x 20m of non woven Geotextile to wrap each crate to stop debris from entering the crate and causing a blockage. 5 crates equal 2 Cubic Metre Pedestrian loading 20 Tonne. These Soakaway Crates are the ideal product for managing surface water ie rainwater drainage at your home Building Regulations require any new building work (new build houses, extensions, conservatories, summer houses and driveways) to drain to a soakaway system. Why soakaway crates? Traditional soakaways were constructed using brick hardcore and any old debris left from building work. The issue with older soakaways is the voids in the stone equate to around 30%. The crate system offers a 95% void ratio maximizing the storage offered by the soak away. Not only will this make the soakaway work much more effectively but the soak away design life is significantly and improved as the soak away is far less likely to become blocked. Silt build up will also occur over a significantly longer period.How does the system work? Rainwater lands on the roof and driveway of your property and is drained by roof down pipes and driveway gullies to underground drainage pipes. These pipes then convey the water to the soak away crates. Once inside the crates, the water then drains into the subsoil. The major advantage over a conventional drainage system where rainwater is drained to sewers in the public highway is soak aways recharge the natural ground water and prevent flooding from sewers that are well over capacity. Advantages to Aquacrate The Aquacrate is much larger the other Storm Crate Manufactures so you only need 3 crates to make 1 cubic metre (not 5) The crates are suitable for use under landscaping and surfaces for pedestrian loading only.
